meet the team
Ariella Welsh, OTD, OTR/L, CLT
FounderAriella is an occupational therapist with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Northern Arizona University, with experience across hospital, school, and community-based settings.
Her background spans outpatient neuro, critical care, mental health, pediatrics, and special education, with experience supporting individuals across the lifespan and a wide range of abilities. She has worked in intensive care units, rehabilitation settings, and schools, helping individuals improve functional mobility, cognition, and participation in daily life.
Being a Wyoming native (raised in Lander!), her practice is deeply influenced by an outdoor lifestyle and a strong connection to place, shaping a holistic, grounded approach to supporting children and families. Her work is further informed by research focused on resilience and access to care.
She has worked with adaptive recreation organizations including TRAILS Adaptive and Teton Adaptive, helping individuals of all abilities engage in outdoor experiences. She also worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School, where she built a strong foundation in outdoor leadership and safety.
Ariella is Contigo-certified, with specialized training in delivering occupational therapy through nature-based, relationship-centered practice. The Contigo approach emphasizes nervous system regulation, risk-taking through play, and the development of functional skills in real-world environments. Through this lens, she supports children in building confidence, resilience, and independence by meeting them in meaningful outdoor experiences rather than traditional clinical settings.
She believes that growth happens through connection, movement, and real-world experiences.
Tiny Trails Outdoor Therapy is committed to excellence and expertise in our nature-based therapy services for children. We are proud to be Certified Nature-Based Pediatric Therapists™.
